Adding Stellar to your server takes less than a minute, and most features work immediately after the bot joins. Stellar supports both Discord’s native slash commands (type / to browse all available commands) and traditional text commands using a configurable prefix — the default is s!. You can use whichever style you prefer; both are always available. This guide walks you through the full setup from invite to your first configured feature.
1

Invite Stellar to your server

Open the invite link below and select the server you want to add Stellar to from the dropdown. You must have the Manage Server (Manage Guild) permission on that server to add a bot.Invite StellarIf you don’t see your server in the list, make sure you’re logged into the correct Discord account in your browser.
2

Grant the required permissions

The invite flow will show a permissions screen. Stellar needs the following permissions to work correctly across all features:
PermissionWhy it’s needed
Manage MessagesPurging messages, chat filter, sticky messages, counting enforcement
Manage RolesAutorole, reaction roles, verification role assignment
Manage ChannelsChannel locking/unlocking, ticket channel creation
Ban MembersBan and soft-ban commands
Kick MembersKick command and warning threshold enforcement
You can grant all permissions by approving the default list on the invite screen. Stellar will only use each permission for its stated purpose.
For Stellar to assign or remove a role, the Stellar role in your server’s role list must be positioned above that role. If the bot’s role is below a role you want it to manage, go to Server Settings → Roles and drag the Stellar role above it.
3

Verify the bot is online

In any channel where Stellar has permission to read and send messages, run:
/ping
Stellar will reply with a confirmation message and its current latency. If you get no response, check that Stellar is shown as online in your server’s member list and that it has View Channel and Send Messages permissions in that channel.
4

Check or set your command prefix

By default, Stellar’s text command prefix is s!. To see the current prefix for your server, run:
/prefix
To change it to something else (for example, !), run:
/prefix !
The prefix can be up to 10 characters long. You can also update it from the dashboard — see Using the Dashboard for details. Slash commands always work regardless of the prefix setting.
If you share other bots with overlapping prefixes, pick something unique to avoid command conflicts — for example, st! or stellar .
5

Open the web dashboard

For the most convenient setup experience, head to the Stellar dashboard:stellarbot.devClick Login, authorize with Discord, then select your server from the server list. From there you can configure every feature — autorole, welcome messages, the chat filter, tickets, XP settings, and more — through a visual interface without running any commands.See the Dashboard guide for a full walkthrough of each section.

Next steps

Once Stellar is in your server and verified:
  • Enable the XP system with /xp enable or from the dashboard’s XP section.
  • Set up welcome messages in the dashboard under Welcome & Leave Messages.
  • Configure tickets by setting a channel, support role, and sending the ticket embed from the dashboard.
  • Explore all available commands at stellarbot.dev/commands.
